Welcome

Hello friends and family. It’s great to see all of you. We’re here today to celebrate the love and commitment that Allison and Daniel share for each other.

For the entirety of their relationship, they said they didn’t want a wedding. But from their engagement on January 30th, the thought of gathering with all of you was all that they wanted. And so for that, they love you and thank you all for the gift of being here.

Love letter from Majd

My name is Majd, and I have the honor of officiating today’s ceremony. I met Daniel a few years ago when I asked him to join my professional network on Twitter before he moved to LA. Our friendship began over casual, socially-distant garden hangouts, with separate bowls of chips 10 feet apart. Then he introduced me to Allison and our hangouts turned into contemporary dance shows and new-wave French movie nights.

Over that time, Daniel and Allison have always been there for us, helping read a story to our son at bedtime or keeping our plants alive when we’re traveling. I don’t know what I’ve done in return for me to be standing here though.

It can be hard enough to make a new friend in this stage of our lives, but to make two dear friends feels like hitting the jackpot.

Allison, Daniel, it’s been a joy to call you my friends, and it’s a great honor to officiate your wedding today in the presence of your family and friends. Thank you for the privilege.

Other remarks

Today, we celebrate the next chapter in Daniel and Allison's journey together. Their story began during the pandemic, in January 2021, when they connected through a dating app.

Allison, new to online dating, matched with Daniel as one of her first ever swipes. (Although as we gather here, some of us wonder if she gave up searching too quickly.)

Daniel, having scoured dating apps for over a decade, finally found his match. Their first date turned into a 3-hour and 15,000-step walk through Silver Lake with Daniel's dog Marlo. They talked, laughed, and connected effortlessly.

Allison loved Daniel’s eyes. They were, of course, the only part of his face she could see since they were wearing masks—it was the height of COVID, after all.

Over the next year, they wore a path down Santa Monica Boulevard, driving back and forth between their homes, eager to spend every possible moment together. During this time, Allison, a self-proclaimed cat person, fell head over heels for the "weird little guy" Marlo… proving that love can indeed change us in the most unexpected ways.
